Released in 2012, An Awesome Wave is Alt-J’s debut album and one of the most distinctive records of the decade. Genre-bending and immediately recognisable, it introduced a sound that drew on folk, electronic and indie rock without sounding quite like anything else. The album won the Mercury Prize and topped indie charts worldwide.
