Released in August 2002, A Rush of Blood to the Head is Coldplay’s second album and the record that established them as one of the defining bands of the decade. Produced by the band alongside Ken Nelson, it expanded on the sound of their debut with greater ambition and emotional range — bigger arrangements, more textured production and a confidence that runs through every track.

Singles like The Scientist, Clocks, In My Place and God Put a Smile Upon Your Face gave the album its commercial reach, while deeper cuts showed a band willing to take their time and let songs breathe. It remains one of the most cohesive records of its era.
