This Could Be Texas is the debut album from Leeds four-piece English Teacher, released in 2024 and winner of the Mercury Prize. A sparkling, restless record that refuses to sit still — weaving between indie rock, post-punk, spoken word and moments of unexpected tenderness, often within the same song.

Fronted by Lily Fontaine, whose lyrics are sharp, funny and quietly devastating, the album keeps you on your toes from start to finish. Tracks like R&B, Nearly Daffodils and Albert Road established the band as one of the most distinctive voices in British music. A remarkable debut from a group that sounds like no one else.
