Released in August 2015, What Went Down is Foals' fourth studio album and their most visceral and direct record to date. Produced by James Ford, it strips back some of the atmospheric complexity of Holy Fire in favour of raw, driving energy — guitars pushed to the front, rhythms locked in tight and Yannis Philippakis's vocals more urgent than ever.

The title track opens the album with one of the most explosive moments in their catalogue, while Mountain at My Gates, Birch Tree and Night Swimmers show the full range of a band who can move between intensity and beauty without losing their identity. A confident, powerful record.
