The Number of the Beast is Iron Maiden’s third studio album and a landmark release in British heavy metal. First arriving in the US on 22 March 1982 via Harvest and Capitol Records, it followed a week later in the UK on 29 March through EMI Records. Packed with ambition, energy and some of the band’s most enduring songs, the record marked a defining moment in Maiden’s rise from NWOBHM favourites to one of the biggest metal bands in the world.
