Deeper, more assured and more adventurous than their debut, it blends funk, soul and jazz into something that feels both timeless and entirely of its moment.

Space Cowboy, Half the Man, Stillness in Time and The Kids are among the standout tracks on an album that rewards repeated listening. Jay Kay’s vocal performance is at its most expressive, and the band’s groove is locked in throughout. One of the great British albums of the 1990s.
