Released in 2021, Jubilee is Japanese Breakfast’s third studio album and a deliberate turn toward joy. After two records shaped by grief and loss, Michelle Zauner set out to make a celebration — of time passing, of change, and of the possibility of a brighter new chapter.

Inspired by bold, maximalist albums like Björk’s Homogenic, Zauner leans into scale and colour: big sounds, rich textures and expansive emotions. The songs glow with optimism but stay grounded in real life — growing up, making hard choices, honouring commitments and trying to be better. Jubilee doesn’t deny struggle; it meets it head-on with imagination, warmth and exhilaration.
