Mandy, Indiana – URGH
URGH is the Sacred Bones debut from Manchester four-piece Mandy, Indiana — Valentine Caulfield (vocals), Scott Fair (guitar, production), Simon Catling (synths) and Alex Macdougall (drums). Much of the album was written during a residency at an eerie studio house on the outskirts of Leeds, then recorded across Berlin and Greater Manchester under intense circumstances, including health issues faced by two of the band during the process.
Uncompromising and visceral, URGH moves between industrial catharsis and cinematic unease — bristling techno, deconstructed feedback loops and frazzled rap (Sicko! featuring billy woods) threaded together with what Fair describes as "a remix of itself." Caulfield uses her voice as both instrument and weapon, oscillating between playful and eviscerating. Deeply personal and politically charged, the album grapples with assault, systemic indifference and the omnipresence of pain, while insisting on moments of beauty and solidarity.
Pressed on translucent red, green and blue vinyl.
