Released in 1983, Kill ‘Em All is Metallica’s debut album and one of the founding documents of thrash metal. Fast, aggressive and technically precise, it arrived at a moment when heavy music was looking for somewhere new to go — and Metallica provided the answer with a record that was louder, faster and more relentless than almost anything that had come before it.

Hit the Lights, Whiplash and Seek & Destroy became instant classics of the genre, while Cliff Burton’s bass work throughout the album set a standard that still resonates. Raw and uncompromising, it launched one of the biggest careers in rock history.
