Nirvana – Nevermind

Released in September 1991, Nevermind propelled Seattle trio Nirvana from the American underground to global cultural force. Produced by Butch Vig and driven by Kurt Cobain’s songwriting, the album fused the raw energy of punk with an instinctive feel for melody, creating a sound that reshaped alternative rock overnight.

Tracks like Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are, In Bloom and Lithium carried the weight of a generation, while deeper cuts such as Drain You and Territorial Pissings retained the abrasive spirit of the underground scene Nirvana emerged from. Loud, direct and emotionally unfiltered — but built around hooks that made the record impossible to ignore.

More than just a hugely successful album, Nevermind changed the direction of popular music in the early 1990s, opening the door for alternative and independent bands to move from the margins to the centre of the mainstream.
