Ornatos Violeta – O Monstro Precisa de Amigos

O Monstro Precisa de Amigos was the second and final album by Portuguese band Ornatos Violeta, released on 22 November 1999. One of the most celebrated records in Portuguese rock history, it featured contributions from Corvos, singer Vítor Espadinha, and Gordon Gano, lead vocalist of Violent Femmes — a collaboration that gave the album an unmistakable breadth and character.

Three singles were released: Ouvi Dizer, Capitão Romance and Chaga, with music videos produced for the first two tracks. The album was named Album of the Year at the 1999 Blitz Awards, also winning Best Male Vocal Performance, Best Song for Ouvi Dizer, and Best Portuguese Band — a clean sweep that reflected the record's extraordinary impact on Portuguese music.
