Easter is the third studio album by Patti Smith, released on 3 March 1978 via Arista Records. Recorded following a period of recovery after Smith’s on-stage injury in 1977, the album was produced by Jimmy Iovine and marked a shift toward a more accessible, radio-facing sound.

Blending rock, folk and spoken word elements, Easter balances Smith’s poetic approach with a broader musical palette. The inclusion of Because the Night, co-written with Bruce Springsteen, brought the record wider recognition and remains one of her most enduring tracks.
