Originally released on 21 January 1977, Animals is Pink Floyd’s tenth studio album and one of their most direct and uncompromising records. Recorded at Britannia Row Studios in London and produced by the band, it reflects the tension of mid-1970s Britain with a sharper, more confrontational tone than much of their earlier work.

A concept album at its core, Animals maps society through three archetypes—Dogs, Pigs and Sheep—drawing loosely on George Orwell’s Animal Farm. Across extended compositions and focused, hard-edged guitar work, the record examines power, control and social division with a clarity that still holds.
