Placebo (Belgium) – Placebo
Placebo is a deep-cut classic from the early 1970s Belgian jazz-rock scene. Glossy, stylish, and effortlessly cool, the album feels like the perfect soundtrack to a cult 1970s detective series: equal parts jazz, funk, and cinematic atmosphere. Seductive grooves and elegant arrangements pull you in fast, and once you're there, it's hard to step away. Compared to the band's earlier work, the rhythms run deeper and the solos are bolder, more intense, and unmistakably their own.
Led by Marc Moulin, one of Belgium's true jazz legends, Placebo helped shape a sound that would quietly influence generations of crate-diggers and rare-groove devotees. Moulin spent over three decades making jazz-influenced records, and the three Placebo albums remain holy-grail material for fans of that unmistakable 1970s cool. Original pressings are scarce and highly sought after, making this reissue a very welcome return of a long-overdue classic.
