Ramones - Rocket to Russia

Ramones – Rocket to Russia

Released in November 1977, Rocket to Russia captures the Ramones at full momentum: fast, concise and more refined without losing impact. Sheena Is a Punk Rocker and Rockaway Beach sharpen their approach, balancing speed with a clearer sense of structure and melody.

Alongside the originals, their reworked takes on Do You Wanna Dance? and Surfin’ Bird fold early rock and pop into a stripped-down framework. The album shows how much of their sound is rooted in reduction rather than reinvention, turning familiar ingredients into something immediate and unmistakable.

It also marks the original line-up’s final studio album, closing a formative chapter before Tommy Ramone stepped away.
