Typhoons finds Royal Blood reconnecting with the spark that made them exciting in the first place. When Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher started working on new material, they knew they wanted to go back to their roots — drawing once again from dance-heavy influences like Daft Punk, Justice and Philippe Zdar of Cassius, while keeping the raw, stripped-back energy that defined their debut.

The result is a record that feels instinctive and fun, built around groove as much as grit. As Kerr puts it, they didn’t need to tear everything down, just shift it. You can even hear traces of this direction in earlier tracks like Figure It Out. A subtle reinvention on paper, but in practice it sounds fresh, confident and alive. Typhoons is Royal Blood rediscovering their rhythm and running with it.
