The Windsor Beret – The Original Safety Pin Beret
Named after Windsor Castle — not that one — but the one on Harrow Road. A legendary venue in the 1970s, it played host to the good and the great, many of them on the first steps of the staircase to stardom.
The Rolling Stones, The Who, Hawkwind, The Cure, the Ruts, U2, The Jam, The Clash, Madness, The Stranglers and the Psychedelic Furs all played the venue — sometimes to a full house, many times to a room full of die-hard fans. Legend has it that Iron Maiden refused to play early with the pub still empty. The subsequent row with the manager ended with Iron Maiden being banned — not that it did much to halt their rise to the top.
A punk-inspired woollen beret with oversized safety pin. Part of the Halfmoon collection by Underground England.
