The Cramps - Smell Of Female

The Cramps – Smell of Female

Swamp-soaked rock ’n’ roll, primitive rhythms and a live-wire sense of danger. First released in 1983, Smell of Female captures The Cramps at New York's Peppermint Lounge, distilling their collision of rockabilly, garage punk and B-movie sleaze into a raw, concentrated blast.

The live recordings put you close to the action, with snarling guitars and unhinged vocals giving the music its sweaty, after-dark atmosphere. Beautiful Gardens and She Said stretch that energy into loose, unpredictable freakouts, making this a record to turn up rather than leave in the background.

This expanded edition also includes Surfin’ Dead, a studio recording made at A&M Studios in Hollywood for the Return of the Living Dead soundtrack. Its twisted surf-rock swagger adds another shade to The Cramps' unmistakable world.
