Released in January 2022, Dawn FM is The Weeknd’s fifth studio album and one of his most ambitious. Conceived as a radio broadcast from a fictional station guiding listeners through the afterlife, it’s a concept album in the truest sense — cohesive, cinematic and built around a specific sonic world that draws on 1980s synth-pop, new wave and R&B.

Collaborators include Tyler, the Creator, Lil Wayne and Oneohtrix Point Never, whose production runs throughout the record and gives it much of its distinctive texture. Jim Carrey narrates the interludes. It’s a record that rewards listening from start to finish.
