Based on the Irvine Welsh novel of the same name, Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting became a cult sensation on release in 1996. Focused on the heroin subculture of Edinburgh in the 1980s, the film is occupied with surrealism, black comedy and one of the great British soundtracks of its era.
