Fontaines D.C. – Romance

Romance is the fourth studio album from Dublin post-punk band Fontaines D.C., released in 2024 via XL Recordings and produced by James Ford. Following Skinty Fia — which topped both the UK and Irish album charts — the record pushes their sound into more expansive and experimental territory while retaining the intensity and lyrical focus that defined their earlier work.

Lead single Starburster, inspired by a panic attack experienced by singer Grian Chatten at London’s St Pancras station, introduced the album’s darker energy and rhythmic urgency. Across eleven tracks, Romance broadens the band’s sonic palette — blending post-punk with heavier textures, hip-hop-influenced rhythms and atmospheric moments that hint at shoegaze and dream-pop.
