Released in 1995 on Dischord Records, Red Medicine is Fugazi's fourth studio album and one of their most adventurous. Looser and more playful than its predecessor In on the Kill Taker, it packs rhythmic punch while pushing the band's sound into unexpected territory — dubwise rhythms, clarinet, piano and even a guitar-free instrumental (Version) sit alongside the soaring post-hardcore the band is best known for.

MacKaye, Picciotto, Lally and Canty sound liberated here, their twisted sense of humour surfacing throughout. Birthday Pony, Target, Back to Base and Long Distance Runner are among the standouts on a record that remains one of the most inventive in the Fugazi catalogue.
