Fugazi – Red Medicine

Fugazi – Red Medicine

Released in 1995 on Dischord Records, Red Medicine is Fugazi’s fourth studio album and one of their most adventurous. Looser and more playful than In on the Kill Taker, it packs rhythmic punch while pushing the band into unexpected territory: dub-influenced rhythms, clarinet and piano sit alongside their distinctive post-hardcore.

MacKaye, Picciotto, Lally and Canty sound liberated here, with their twisted sense of humour surfacing throughout. Birthday Pony, Target, Back to Base and Long Distance Runner stand out, while the guitar-free instrumental Version offers another angle on the band’s restless creativity.
