Released in February 2023, Cracker Island is Gorillaz’s eighth studio album and one of their most focused. Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett lean fully into the band’s pop instincts here without losing the off-kilter edge that makes Gorillaz distinctive — the result is a record built around slick grooves, sharp hooks and a slightly surreal atmosphere that feels like a warped dance record for uncertain times.

Themes of cult thinking, excess and modern absurdity run through the album, while a purposeful guest list adds colour without stealing the spotlight. Tight, glossy and very re-playable — a strong chapter in the Gorillaz story.
