The Sex Pistols were the most incendiary band of the British punk explosion. Formed in London in 1975 around the confrontational vocals of John Lydon (Johnny Rotten) and the guitar of Steve Jones, with Paul Cook on drums and Glen Matlock (later replaced by Sid Vicious) on bass, they burned through the music establishment in just over two years.

Their sole studio album Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols (1977) remains one of the most important and influential records ever made — a furious, perfectly constructed statement that changed the course of rock music.
