Joy Division – Closer
Released in July 1980, just two months after Ian Curtis’s death, Closer is Joy Division’s second and final studio album — and one of the most haunting records in the history of post-punk. Produced by Martin Hannett, whose icy, spacious production shaped the band’s sound into something entirely its own, the album is darker and more austere than Unknown Pleasures, stripped back to atmosphere and tension.
Atrocity Exhibition, Isolation, Heart and Soul and Twenty Four Hours are among the most emotionally raw tracks the band recorded. This edition recreates the original artwork and uses the 2007 remastered cuts.
