Released in 2002, Steal This Album! gathers material originally recorded during the Toxicity sessions, songs that first circulated online in rough, unfinished form before being properly completed and released. What could have been a loose collection instead stands as a fully realised album, capturing System of a Down at one of their most prolific and creative peaks.

The record carries the same volatile mix of aggression, melody and unpredictability that defined Toxicity, with tracks that shift rapidly between heavy riffs, sharp hooks and surreal lyricism. Songs like “Aerials’ outtake-era cuts such as “Innervision,” “I-E-A-I-A-I-O,” and “Boom!” show just how strong this material is, far beyond the level of typical leftovers.

If anything, Steal This Album! reinforces how extraordinary that period was for the band. Even the so-called outtakes feel urgent, inventive and complete, a reminder that System of a Down weren’t just consistent, they were operating at a level where almost everything they touched worked.
